PCU Registered Nurse (Night Shift) travel opportunity in Columbus, OH — Acute Leukemia / Hematology RN needed for a 16-week assignment. Job Details
- Assignment Length: 16 weeks (Start: 5/18/2026 – End: 9/7/2026)
- Setting: Acute Leukemia & Hematology Unit (24 beds, daily census ~22) — Hematology/Oncology unit experience preferred
- Shift: 12-hour nights (19:00 – 07:30), 3 shifts per week — Night shift RN (PCU/Telemetry)
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,160 – $2,270
- Scheduling: Self-scheduling requests accommodated; weekends variable based on unit needs
- Orientation: Comprehensive orientation including dayshift and on-unit preceptorship; EPIC training provided
- Location: Columbus, OH 43210 — Ohio travel nursing / Columbus nursing jobs
Job Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience, including at least 1 year of recent inpatient hematology/oncology or acute leukemia RN experience
- Hands-on experience with leukemia and blood dyscrasias required
- Previous travel nursing experience required (travel RN)
- Active RN license (compact or Ohio state) — Ohio RN / compact RN accepted
- Graduate of an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited nursing program
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, ONS Chemotherapy Certification; NIHSS preferred
- EPIC electronic charting experience required — strong documentation skills for clinical support and medication administration
- Must provide two professional references (one from a manager/director or formal leader)
- Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccine not required
Responsibilities
- Provide specialized progressive care nursing to adult and geriatric patients with acute leukemia and other hematologic conditions
- Administer chemotherapy and blood products safely (ONS chemo-certified skills), manage central and peripheral lines, and perform phlebotomy
- Monitor telemetry, interpret dysrhythmias, and respond to rapid response team activations as a telemetry-capable PCU RN
- Implement infection prevention, sepsis screening, and patient falls protocols to maintain patient safety
- Utilize EPIC for computerized charting, medication administration, and interdisciplinary communication
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including physical therapy, pharmacy, respiratory therapy, social work, and case management
- Float to other MedSurg Oncology or PCU units as needed to support staffing
- Participate in ongoing education, competency validation, and unit orientation activities
