- Setting: Level I Trauma, Acute Care Hospital, Magnet-recognized facility
- Unit: ICU (Trauma/Burn focus; medical and cardiac overflow)
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Start Date: May 11, 2026
- Shifts: Nights — 3x12-hour (18:45 – 07:15), every other weekend required
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,000 – $2,100 (competitive travel nursing pay)
- Hours per Week: 36
- On-call: Yes
- Floating: Required to other ICUs (Medical, Neuro, Cardiac), IMC, and general floors as needed
- Charting: Cerner (experience with Cerner preferred)
- Scrub Color: Any solid color
- Parking: Free with permit
Qualifications & Licensure
- Active Illinois RN license required at time of application (must be eligible to practice in Illinois)
- Minimum 1 year of recent ICU experience; trauma/burn ICU experience preferred (critical care nurse experience highly valued)
- BLS and ACLS certifications required (AHA or Red Cross only)
- NIHSS, TNCC, and TNS certifications preferred
- Experience charting with Cerner electronic health record
- Experience working in Level I and II trauma settings required
- Ability to float to other ICU units and general floors as business needs dictate
- Willingness to work 2 out of 3 major holidays if assignment covers a holiday period
Responsibilities (ICU RN / Critical Care Nurse)
- Provide high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to critically ill adult patients in a trauma/burn ICU setting
- Monitor, assess, and document patient conditions, responses to treatment, and changes in status using Cerner
- Administer medications and blood products and manage advanced life support equipment (ventilators, hemodynamic monitoring)
- Respond to rapid response calls, code events, and participate in emergency interventions
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including physicians, respiratory therapy, physical therapy, pharmacy, and social services
- Float to Medical, Neuro, Cardiac ICUs, IMC, and general floors as assigned
- Maintain infection prevention protocols and adhere to hospital policies and procedures
- Provide patient- and family-centered education and support during acute care and discharge planning
