  • Assignment Length: 13 weeks (Start: 5/11/2026 – End: 8/8/2026)
  • Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,090 – $2,200 (competitive pay for travel nurses)
  • Hours: 36 hours per week
  • Shift: 12-hour rotating shifts (Days/Evenings/Nights), 3 shifts per week, including weekends and holidays as needed
  • Employment Type: Travel, On-site (ICU RN, Stepdown nurse, progressive care)

Job Requirements

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York State
  • Minimum 2 years recent Stepdown/PCU or progressive care experience (critical care/telemetry experience required)
  • BLS and ACLS certifications (American Heart Association)
  • High-acuity neuro, stroke, and neurosurgery experience required (neuro ICU or neuroscience experience preferred)
  • Telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm interpretation experience
  • Experience with Q1 neuro checks, EVDs, lumbar drains, subdural drains, arterial lines, and management of continuous drips (3% NS, nicardipine/cardene)
  • Familiarity with carotid endarterectomy, aneurysm coil/clip care, DBS insertion, VP shunts, and seizure management
  • NIHSS certification preferred (stroke nursing)

Responsibilities

  • Provide safe, evidence-based care to patients in a Level II ICU Stepdown / Progressive Care Unit
  • Monitor and manage patients with complex neurological and post-surgical needs, including stroke and neurosurgery cases
  • Perform and document Q1 neuro checks and ongoing neurologic assessments
  • Manage specialized equipment and invasive lines: EVDs, arterial lines, drains, and infusion drips
  • Administer and titrate medications and drips per protocol (including 3% NS and cardene)
  • Serve as charge nurse, preceptor, or committee participant as needed to support unit operations
  • Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, therapists, and ancillary staff to optimize patient outcomes
  • Engage in professional development, quality improvement, and evidence-based practice initiatives
