Top Qualifications (Labor & Delivery Nurse / Travel RN)
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (valid in Texas or compact RN eligible)
- Minimum 1 year recent Labor & Delivery / OB experience (maternity, fetal monitoring, postpartum and newborn care)
- Previous travel nursing experience required (travel RN)
- Epic charting experience required (electronic medical record / EMR proficiency)
- Community hospital Labor & Delivery experience preferred
- Certifications: ACLS, BLS (AHA preferred; military acceptable)
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred; typical patient ratio experience: 2:1
Key Responsibilities (L&D RN / OB Nurse)
- Provide comprehensive, evidence-based nursing care to laboring mothers and newborns across labor, delivery, and recovery
- Perform continuous fetal monitoring, assessments, and timely interventions during labor and delivery
- Support vaginal and cesarean deliveries, assist the interdisciplinary team during high-risk births
- Provide newborn care and initial assessments, including APGAR scoring and transition support
- Document accurately and timely in Epic (electronic charting) and maintain compliance with hospital policies
- Educate and support patients and families on labor progress, pain management options (including epidural care), postpartum care, and newborn care
- Collaborate closely with Respiratory Therapy, Pharmacy, Radiology, Phlebotomy, Social Services, Rapid Response, Physical Therapy, and Unit Secretaries
- Participate in weekend and holiday coverage as scheduled and maintain professional competency through required modules
