Job Details — Psychiatric RN / Travel Nurse

- Start Date: May 11, 2026
- End Date: August 10, 2026
- Shift: Nights — 3x 12-hour night shifts per week (inpatient Adolescent behavioral unit RN schedule)
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,020 – $2,130
- Employment Type: Travel, On-Site (Travel Nurse / Behavioral Health RN)
Job Requirements — Psychiatric Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Active RN license in the State of Maine (required for Psychiatric RN / Inpatient Psychiatric Nurse)
- Associate Degree in Nursing (minimum) — ADN, BSN preferred
- Current BLS certification (AHA)
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) training required
- Minimum 1 year of nursing experience (experience with children or adolescents in behavioral health or inpatient psychiatry preferred)
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills — essential for behavioral health nursing and interdisciplinary collaboration
- Ability to set professional boundaries and manage stressful situations calmly and effectively
- Willingness to float to Chemical Dependency/Detox units as needed (experience in detox/chemical dependency a plus)
- Must reside outside a 50-mile radius from Lewiston, Maine (travel nurse eligibility)
- Candidates with licensure or background hits will not be considered
Responsibilities — Behavioral Health / Psychiatric RN Duties
- Provide direct and indirect patient care to children and adolescents (ages 6-18) in an inpatient Adolescent behavioral unit as a Psychiatric RN
- Administer medications safely and provide patient and family education on treatment plans
- Document daily patient care, monitor behaviors, and maintain accurate clinical records
- Lead and participate in therapeutic and educational groups for patients (group facilitation experience with children or adolescents preferred)
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team — psychiatrists, social workers, therapists, and nursing staff — to develop individualized care plans for children and adolescents
- Float to Chemical Dependency/Detox units when needed and support continuity of care across behavioral health services
- Maintain a safe, therapeutic environment and uphold professional boundaries and regulatory standards
