Job Details

• Job Title: Emergency Room Registered Nurse / ER RN / Travel RN
• Location: Salem, VA 24153 — Roanoke Valley, Virginia (local travel nursing job; Virginia healthcare)
• Setting: Emergency Department (27 beds)
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks (Start: 5/4/2026 – End: 8/3/2026)
• Shift: 12-hour nights (19:00–07:00)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,680 – $1,770 (travel nursing pay)
• Weekend Requirement: Four weekend shifts (Friday or Saturday nights) in a four-week period
• Dress Code: Navy blue or white scrubs

Qualifications / Job Requirements

• Active RN license in good standing (Virginia RN license or RN Compact licensure preferred)
• Minimum 2–3 years of Emergency Room RN experience in high-acuity, high-volume ED settings
• Completion of at least 2–3 prior travel nurse assignments preferred
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC
• Preferred certifications: ENPC, NRP, NIHSS
• Experience managing patient ratios up to 5:1 and providing care to critical, medical-surgical, and psychiatric patients
• Strong teamwork, adaptability, clinical judgment, and a positive, patient-centered attitude

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality emergency nursing care for patients across all ages in a busy Emergency Department
• Triage, assess, and stabilize critically ill or injured patients using evidence-based emergency protocols
• Perform and assist with procedures including rapid sequence intubation (RSI), sepsis interventions, central line care, and stroke protocol with tPA administration
• Provide safe care for psychiatric patients and coordinate behavioral health interventions
• Coordinate patient transfers and inter-facility transports in accordance with EMTALA regulations
• Document patient care accurately and timely using Meditech EMR system
• Collaborate with physicians, medics, RNs, and multidisciplinary support staff to ensure continuity of care
• Maintain a calm, team-oriented, and respectful work environment focused on patient safety
