Qualifications / Job Requirements

  • Active RN license in the state of Kansas (Registered Nurse, RN)
  • BLS certification (American Heart Association)
  • Minimum 1 year acute care hospital experience on Med/Surg or Telemetry units (Med/Surg nurse experience required)
  • Experience with wound care, dressing changes, and post-op orthopedic care (wound care skills)
  • NIH Stroke Scale certification preferred
  • Ability to work rotating weekends (every 3rd weekend, or every other if needed)
  • Royal blue scrubs required

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality nursing care for patients with orthopedic, neurological, and trauma-related conditions (orthopedic nursing, trauma care)
  • Perform wound care, dressing changes, and common Med/Surg procedures
  • Use and manage orthopedic equipment: traction, external fixators, halos, walkers, gait belts
  • Monitor patients using continuous pulse oximetry and remote telemetry monitoring (telemetry nurse skills)
  • Document patient care accurately in Meditech EMR
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including physical therapy, occupational therapy, radiology, and respiratory therapy
  • Communicate securely using mobile technology (iMobile) for team coordination and patient updates
  • Maintain safe patient ratios (typically 5–6:1) to ensure high-quality, effective care
  • Contribute to a positive, engaged team culture with low turnover and high employee satisfaction
