PCU Registered Nurse (RN) – Night Shift travel assignment in Springfield, IL. 16-week contract at a Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma Center. Excellent opportunity for experienced stepdown/telemetry nurses.
Job Details
- Location: Springfield, IL 62781 (Springfield healthcare / Illinois travel nursing)
- Assignment Length: 16 weeks (May 11, 2026 – August 31, 2026)
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,000 – $2,100
- Shift: Night shift – 3x12-hour nights (18:45 – 07:15); 4x12s available if preferred
- Hours per Week: 36
- Setting: Acute Care Hospital – Level I Trauma Center, Magnet facility
- Unit: IMC / Progressive Care Unit (PCU) – stepdown / telemetry nurse role
- Patient Ratio: 1:4
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Charting / EMR: Cerner
- Parking: Free with permit
Qualifications and Requirements
- Minimum 1 year recent PCU / stepdown / intermediate care experience (18 months preferred)
- Active Illinois RN license required at time of submission
- BLS and NIHSS required; ACLS preferred
- Experience with telemetry, neuro stepdown, and cardiac monitoring (telemetry nurse)
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Strong clinical skills in cardiac, neuro, renal, respiratory care, and IV therapy
- Ability to float within scope to other acute care units as needed
- Must be available to work 2 of 3 major holidays if assignment covers a holiday period
- Cerner experience and Level I Trauma / teaching hospital experience preferred
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality adult nursing care in a busy PCU / IMC setting (progressive care nurse)
- Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, manage dysrhythmias, and titrate cardiac/vasoactive drips
- Care for post-cardiac, neuro, and trauma patients, including ventilated and tracheostomy patients
- Perform wound care, manage feeding tubes, and provide pre/post hemodialysis nursing care
- Participate on rapid response and code teams as required
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including PT, RT, pharmacy, and social services
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation using Cerner (EMR)
- Uphold infection control standards and isolation precautions
