• Position: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse / Stepdown RN (Travel)
• Location: Gadsden, Alabama (35903) — travel nursing jobs in Alabama
• Unit: PCU / Stepdown (Progressive Care)
• Assignment Type: Travel RN — 13 weeks
• Start / End Dates: May 11, 2026 – August 10, 2026
• Shift: 12-hour day shifts (6:45 AM – 7:15 PM); every other weekend required
• Hours per Week: 36
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,570 – $1,650 (competitive travel nurse pay)

Qualifications & Requirements

• Active Alabama RN license (state or multistate) with no prior disciplinary actions — Alabama nursing jobs
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications
• Minimum 1 year recent Stepdown or ICU experience (Progressive Care / telemetry experience preferred)
• Experience with Cerner EMR (electronic medical record) preferred
• Ability to work every other weekend
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility (travel nurse housing eligibility)

PCU / Stepdown RN Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to PCU/Stepdown patients using the Nursing Process and in accordance with the Alabama Nurse Practice Act
• Apply critical thinking and clinical judgment to prioritize and deliver safe patient care in a progressive care setting
• Monitor and manage telemetry and intermediate acuity patients, recognizing and responding to changes in condition
• Maintain clinical competencies through ongoing education and training, including ACLS/BLS protocols
• Document accurately in Cerner EMR and communicate care plans with the interdisciplinary team
• Delegate, supervise, and provide direction to assigned personnel while maintaining patient ratios (4:1)
