• Unit: Medical-Surgical (Med/Surg) unit, acute care hospital
• Shift: 12-hour nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)

Job Requirements / Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Registered Nursing program (Registered Nurse / RN)
• Current New Mexico RN license or Compact state RN license (eligible to practice in NM)
• BLS Certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) required
• Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg experience (Medical-Surgical RN experience)
• ACLS certification optional but preferred
• Strong communication skills, patient advocacy, and sensitivity to patient rights
• Ability to manage emergency/crisis situations and perform heavy physical effort as required in a fast-paced acute care setting

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and implement patient-centered care specific to the Medical-Surgical unit
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments, medication administration, and accurate documentation/charting
• Deliver safe, efficient, evidence-based care consistent with unit standards and hospital policies
• Demonstrate professionalism and respect toward staff, physicians, patients, and families
• Maintain clear and concise communication appropriate to patient age and clinical needs
• Adhere to infection control protocols, safety standards, and quality improvement initiatives
• Participate in the unit and organizational mission, philosophy, and goals and respond to unexpected schedule changes and emergencies as needed
