Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (state requirements apply)
- Minimum 1 year of recent ICU or STICU experience in a Level 1 or Level 2 trauma center
- Current ACLS and BLS (AHA); NIHSS certification required
- Experience with advanced devices preferred: intra-aortic balloon pumps, Impella, EKOS, CRRT, post-op open-heart care
- Comfortable managing high-acuity, diverse patient population
- Strong critical thinking, clinical assessment, and communication skills
- Must meet a 75-mile radius restriction
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality nursing care to critically ill patients in the STICU/SICU as a critical care nurse
- Manage patients with neurologic, trauma, cardiovascular, and post-operative needs, including open abdomens and post-op open-heart cases
- Operate and manage advanced therapies at the bedside, including CRRT and other renal support modalities
- Care for patients with mechanical circulatory support (IABP, Impella) and EKOS therapy
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams—surgeons, intensivists, respiratory therapy, and allied health—to optimize outcomes
- Document care accurately and efficiently using MEDITECH
- Adapt to fluctuating acuity with 2:1 and 1:1 nurse-to-patient ratios as needed
- Participate in the unit's ECMO program as it launches and support program development
