Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (state requirements apply)
• Minimum 1 year of recent ICU or STICU experience in a Level 1 or Level 2 trauma center
• Current ACLS and BLS (AHA); NIHSS certification required
• Experience with advanced devices preferred: intra-aortic balloon pumps, Impella, EKOS, CRRT, post-op open-heart care
• Comfortable managing high-acuity, diverse patient population
• Strong critical thinking, clinical assessment, and communication skills
• Must meet a 75-mile radius restriction

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to critically ill patients in the STICU/SICU as a critical care nurse
• Manage patients with neurologic, trauma, cardiovascular, and post-operative needs, including open abdomens and post-op open-heart cases
• Operate and manage advanced therapies at the bedside, including CRRT and other renal support modalities
• Care for patients with mechanical circulatory support (IABP, Impella) and EKOS therapy
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams—surgeons, intensivists, respiratory therapy, and allied health—to optimize outcomes
• Document care accurately and efficiently using MEDITECH
• Adapt to fluctuating acuity with 2:1 and 1:1 nurse-to-patient ratios as needed
• Participate in the unit's ECMO program as it launches and support program development
