Job Requirements

• Active RN license in the state of New Mexico or compact state (required for New Mexico nursing jobs)
• Current BLS certification (AHA only)
• Current NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
• Current ACLS certification (AHA only)
• Certification in one of the following: AWHONN Intermediate FHM or NCC Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM)
• Current STABLE certification (Post-resuscitation/Pre-transport Stabilization Care of Sick Infants)
• At least 1 year of experience in Labor & Delivery, perinatal, or a related maternity nursing specialty
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to Labor & Delivery patients using the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, evaluation)
• Perform maternal and fetal monitoring, including interpretation of electronic fetal monitoring (EFM) and use of AWHONN/NCC standards
• Administer medications and treatments per protocols; monitor for side effects and effectiveness
• Perform neonatal resuscitation and post-resuscitation/stabilization care in accordance with NRP and STABLE guidelines
• Document patient history, symptoms, medications, interventions, and outcomes in the electronic health record
• Address complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families; provide patient education on labor, delivery, and postpartum care
• Delegate and assign tasks appropriately to other care team members; participate in unit-based teamwork and handoffs
• Participate in ongoing competency validation, skills checks, and continuing education as required for L&D nursing
