Job Details
- Location: Columbus, OH 43210 – a leading academic medical center (Columbus, Ohio travel nurse opportunity)
- Unit: Burn and Specialty Surgery, Mixed Acuity (22 beds, 16 rooms) – PCU nurse role
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks (June 1, 2026 – August 31, 2026)
- Shift: 12-hour nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM); every other/third weekend required – Night shift travel nurse
- Hours per Week: 36
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,940 – $2,040
- Floating: Required within the organization as needed (ability to float to other units preferred)
Required Qualifications (PCU RN / Registered Nurse)
- Active Registered Nurse license (compact or Ohio RN license in hand at time of submission)
- Graduation from an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited nursing program
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of recent Progressive Care Unit (PCU) or step-down experience
- Experience caring for adult and geriatric patient populations, including surgical and specialty cases
- EPIC electronic health record (EHR) documentation experience and Pyxis medication system preferred
- Ability to float and support multiple units as needed within an academic medical center
- Seasonal flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only)
- Two professional references required (at least one from a manager/director or formal leadership role)
Responsibilities – PCU Nurse / Travel Nurse Duties
- Provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care to adults and geriatric patients with burns and specialty surgical needs (plastic/reconstructive, urology, GYN, ENT, oral/maxillofacial)
- Perform and manage specialized procedures such as burn dressings, flap checks, and leech therapy
- Utilize advanced clinical skills: arterial line management, blood product administration, central and peripheral line care, telemetry monitoring, and comprehensive wound care
- Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams including IV team, physical therapy, respiratory therapy, radiology, pharmacy, and rapid response teams to support optimal patient outcomes
- Accurate documentation in EPIC and safe medication management using Pyxis
- Participate in scheduled weekend and holiday coverage; support unit staffing as a flexible PCU RN
