Travel Nurse Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years recent clinical experience in Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, and Newborn care (L&D RN experience preferred)
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license — state-specific licensure required for Arizona travel nursing
- Required certifications:
- ACLS or ALSO (American Heart Association or Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- AWHONN Advanced Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM) or RNC-EFM
- Ability to float to other departments as qualified (cross-training helpful)
- Available to attend orientation on Mondays
Key Responsibilities — Labor & Delivery / Postpartum / Newborn Care
- Provide comprehensive maternal and newborn nursing care for laboring mothers, postpartum patients, and newborns (OB nurse, perinatal nurse duties)
- Support Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI) policies; rooming-in practices and breastfeeding support
- Manage an average of ~40 deliveries and ~6 C-sections per month; triage and anticipate emergent obstetric needs
- Serve as charge nurse occasionally after appropriate training; coordinate patient assignments and unit flow
- Float to other units as needed, including taking patient loads or performing task-oriented duties
- Maintain accurate documentation, follow unit protocols, and uphold high standards of patient safety and quality care
