Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse travel assignment in Roanoke, Virginia — seeking an experienced PCU/Stepdown Travel RN with EPIC, ACLS, and telemetry skills to start May 11, 2026. Job Details — Travel Nurse / PCU RN
- Location: Roanoke, VA 24014 (Roanoke, Virginia travel nursing)
- Assignment Type: Travel, On-Site (Travel Nurse / Travel Registered Nurse)
- Unit: Resource Nursing Pool (PCU / Medical-Surgical Float)
- Start Date: May 11, 2026 (Immediate start)
- End Date: August 10, 2026
- Duration: 13 weeks
- Shift: Nights, 3x12-hours (18:45 – 07:15)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,910 – $2,010
- Charting / EMR: EPIC
- Orientation: 24 hours
Qualifications (PCU / Stepdown RN Requirements)
- Active RN license — Virginia or Compact State (registered nurse license)
- Minimum 2 years recent PCU / stepdown / telemetry experience required
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications
- Proficiency with EPIC charting and documentation
- Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, and blood product administration
- Skilled in central line care, trach management, and non-invasive airway support (CPAP / BiPAP, chest tubes)
- Proficient in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and titrating cardiac drips
- Experience with PCA, heparin protocols, and IV insulin administration
- Telemetry and stepdown-level care background required
- COVID-19 and influenza vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
Responsibilities — PCU Float RN / Travel Registered Nurse
- Float between PCU and Medical-Surgical units as staffing needs require (may float 2–3 times per shift)
- Deliver high-quality, patient-centered nursing care to adult and geriatric populations
- Manage typical PCU patient ratios (average 5:1 in PCU; 6:1 in MS) with flexibility as needed
- Perform advanced clinical skills including cardiac monitoring, central line management, and rapid response / code participation
- Administer medications and blood products and manage complex protocols (PCA, heparin, IV insulin)
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams: Respiratory Therapy, Physical Therapy, Pharmacy, Social Services, and Case Management
- Maintain accurate documentation in EPIC and ensure compliance with hospital policies and procedures
- Complete required orientation and facility modules during the first week
- Work at least one holiday during the 13-week contract
