- Duration: 13 weeks (travel nursing assignment)
- Weekly Guaranteed Hours: 36
- Total Hours Per Week: 40
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,000 – $2,100
- Shift: Varied Day Shift, 8-hour shifts (06:45 – 15:15)
- Weekend Requirements: None
- On-Call Requirements: None
- Patient Ratios: 2:1
- EMR: Epic (Epic EMR experience required)
Job Requirements
- Active RN license in Virginia or Compact State (Virginia RN license preferred)
- Minimum 2 years recent clinical experience in Pre-Op, Post-Op, and PACU or perioperative nursing
- Current ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications (AHA only)
- Proficiency with Epic EMR — experience documenting perioperative and PACU care
- Experience caring for adult and pediatric patients with complex co-morbidities
- Strong communication, teamwork, and critical thinking skills in a surgical center or hospital setting
Responsibilities
- Deliver safe, high-quality nursing care in Pre-Op, Post-Op, and PACU settings as a perioperative nurse
- Perform focused pre-operative assessments and post-anesthesia monitoring for surgical patients
- Monitor patient status, manage airway and hemodynamics, and respond rapidly to changes in condition
- Administer medications, IV therapies, and pain management interventions per provider orders
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, OR staff, and multidisciplinary perioperative team members
- Document patient care accurately and efficiently in Epic EMR; complete clear handoffs at transitions of care
- Provide patient and family education on post-operative care, recovery expectations, and discharge instructions
- Adhere to hospital policies, infection control, patient safety protocols, and perioperative best practices
