- Job Title: Med/Surg Registered Nurse (Med-Surg RN) / Travel Nurse
- Location: Henderson, NC (zip 27536) — Henderson, North Carolina travel nurse opportunity
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks (Start: 5/10/2026 – End: 8/9/2026)
- Shift: 12 Hour Days (07:00-19:00)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Unit / Setting: Medical-Surgical unit (48 beds) — medical-surgical nursing
- Patient Ratio: 1:6
- Employment Type: Travel
- Weekend Hours: As needed
- Call Requirements: None
Job Requirements — Registered Nurse (RN) Qualifications
- Active RN license (must be eligible to practice as a Registered Nurse)
- Minimum 1 year of medical-surgical (Med/Surg) nursing experience with at least 1 completed travel assignment
- Required certifications: NIH Stroke Scale, ACLS, BLS
- Clinical skills: IV start, Foley catheter insertion, NG tube insertion
- Experience performing EKGs and managing heparin drips
- Comfortable with 1:6 patient ratio and high patient turnover
- May have rare float assignments (inpatient rehab or ER task-based float)
Responsibilities — Med-Surg RN / Travel Nurse Duties
- Deliver high-quality medical-surgical patient care in a fast-paced Med/Surg unit
- Initiate IVs, insert Foley catheters, and place NG tubes as indicated
- Perform EKGs, monitor telemetry, and manage heparin drip protocols
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (physicians, PT/OT, case management) to ensure optimal patient outcomes
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation using Paragon EHR
- Adapt to high turnover and changing patient acuity common in medical-surgical nursing
- Provide compassionate care to adult and geriatric patient populations
