  • Shift: 12-hour days (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM), every 3rd weekend required
  • Hours per Week: 36
  • Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,800 – $1,890 (competitive travel nurse pay)
  • Patient Ratio: 1:1, 1:2, or assigned to OBED
  • Positions Available: 2

Job Requirements

  • Active RN license in Texas or a valid compact state license (Registered Nurse, RN)
  • Current BLS certification (AHA)
  • Current ACLS certification (AHA)
  • Current NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
  • Certification in Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM) or AWHONN Intermediate FHM
  • At least 1 year of recent Labor & Delivery, OB, or perinatal nursing experience preferred
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
  • Completion of annual competency verifications and skills validation
  • Attendance at New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days for new hires

Responsibilities

  • Provide routine and complex nursing care for Labor & Delivery patients, practicing independently and collaboratively with the OB/perinatal team
  • Use the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, evaluation) for assigned patients
  • Administer medications and treatments per protocol; monitor for side effects and therapeutic effectiveness
  • Document patient history, symptoms, medications, care provided, and fetal monitoring findings
  • Perform and interpret fetal monitoring and communicate concerns to the interdisciplinary team
  • Assess learning needs and provide patient, family, and caregiver education on labor, delivery, postpartum care, and newborn care
  • Address complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families in a patient-centered manner
  • Delegate and assign tasks to other care providers appropriately while maintaining safe patient ratios
  • Participate in ongoing competency, skills validation, and professional development in OB/L&D best practices
