• Position: Cardiac Stepdown Registered Nurse (RN) / Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Nurse
• Location: Leonardtown, Maryland (20650) — Maryland travel nursing, Southern Maryland healthcare
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks (June 1, 2026 – August 31, 2026)
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,710 – $1,800
• Shift: Nights, 3x12-hour (18:45 – 07:15)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Unit: Intermediate Care / Cardiac Stepdown / Telemetry
• Employment Type: Travel Nurse

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license (Maryland or Compact RN)
• Minimum 2 years recent PCU/IMC/Stepdown or telemetry experience
• ACLS and BLS certifications required
• Must pass Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam (80% overall; 100% on lethal rhythms)
• Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)
• Two supervisor references required
• Comfortable with bedside cardiac monitoring, ECG/telemetry interpretation, ultrasound IV, and lift equipment
• Ability to float to Telemetry and Medical-Surgical units as needed
• Every other weekend coverage required
• First-time travel nurses welcome

Preferred Experience

• Previous charge nurse experience
• Community hospital and LTAC exposure
• Previous trauma or critical care transfer experience

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered care to adult patients in the Cardiac Stepdown/IMC unit
• Monitor and manage cardiac drips (no titration), dysrhythmias, and telemetry/ECG monitoring
• Perform bedside monitoring for up to 8 patients on telemetry
• Manage central lines, chest tubes, feeding tubes, and IV therapy
• Administer oxygen therapy, BiPAP/CPAP, and high-flow nasal cannula
• Implement isolation precautions and adhere to PPE protocols
• Float to Telemetry and Medical-Surgical units as needed (typical patient ratios 1:5–1:6)
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including respiratory therapy, physical therapy, pharmacy, and rapid response
• Support pre- and post-hemodialysis management and care for patients with renal failure
• Maintain accurate, timely charting and documentation in the electronic health record
