Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,250 - $2,370
- Location: Finger Lakes, NY 14456 (New York State)
- Contract Length: 16 weeks
- Start Date: May 25, 2026
- Hours per Week: 40
- Shift: 4x9-hour shifts, Monday–Friday (6:30am/7:30am–3:30pm/4:30pm)
- On-Call: 1 day per week (Mon–Thurs) + 3 on-call weekends every 4–6 weeks
- Employment Type: Travel RN / On-Site (Perioperative Nurse, OR Circulator)
Required Qualifications
- Active New York State Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience; OR circulator experience required
- Experience as a perioperative nurse or surgical nurse in small community hospital settings preferred
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications (AHA/RQI)
- NIHSS certification
- Ability to float to units as needed and to manage on-call responsibilities (may be sole OR RN on-site during on-call shifts)
Responsibilities
- Provide perioperative nursing and circulate for a variety of surgical service lines including Orthopedics, General Surgery, Urology, ENT (including pediatric), GI, Spine, Ophthalmology, and Podiatry
- Assess patient needs, develop and implement individualized care plans, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams
- Deliver direct patient care, monitor patient progress throughout the surgical episode, and ensure safe handoffs
- Educate patients and families on post-operative care, discharge instructions, and lifestyle changes to support recovery
- Maintain sterile technique, infection prevention strategies, and compliance with OR safety protocols
- Participate in quality improvement activities, performance improvement, and self-evaluation to enhance nursing practice
- Serve as patient advocate and provide emotional support in the perioperative environment
