Join a dynamic cardiac surgical team in Rochester, NY (14642) as a Cardiac Stepdown Registered Nurse First Assist (RNFA) on a 13-week travel contract. Support complex cardiothoracic procedures in a renowned cardiac OR environment, deliver high-quality perioperative and post-op cardiac care, and contribute to improved patient outcomes. Job Details – Rochester, NY (Travel Nursing)

• Assignment Length: 13 weeks
• Start Date: May 11, 2026
• End Date: August 8, 2026
• Weekly Hours: 3x12-hour shifts per week
• Shift: 12-hour days (primarily weekdays, 7a-7p and 11a-11p) with on-call responsibilities as needed
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $3,030 – $3,190

• Setting: Cardiac OR / CVOR / cardiothoracic surgery department

Job Requirements (Cardiac RNFA / Perioperative Nurse)

• Minimum 2 years of recent cardiac RNFA or perioperative RN experience in cardiothoracic surgery
• Active New York State RN license (NYS RN)
• CNOR certification preferred/required
• BLS and ACLS certifications (American Heart Association)
• Telemetry experience and strong post-op cardiac care skills
• Ability to assist with chest exposure and closing, and independently perform vein harvesting for CABG procedures
• Preferred: experience with DaVinci robotic cardiac cases, scrubbing/circulating complex cardiac cases, and heart transplant procedures

Key Responsibilities

• Assist as RN First Assistant in cardiac surgical procedures, including chest exposure, closing, and vein harvesting for CABG surgeries
• Support minimally invasive and structural heart procedures such as Bentall and Mini Aortic Valve Replacement
• Participate in heart failure and transplant cases as needed and provide skilled perioperative support
• Deliver high-quality patient care in a fast-paced cardiac OR and stepdown environment
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, perfusionists, and multidisciplinary team members to ensure optimal surgical outcomes
• Fulfill on-call responsibilities and maintain readiness for emergent cardiac cases
