Job Details — Cardiac ICU / CVICU Travel RN
- Location: Baltimore, MD 21201 (downtown Baltimore healthcare)
- Position: CVICU Registered Nurse (RN) – Night Shift / Travel Nurse
- Contract Length: 16 weeks
- Start Date: May 18, 2026
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,110 – $2,220
- Shift: 3 x 12-hour nights (19:00 – 07:30)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Unit: Cardiac ICU (CVICU), 15 beds — adult/geriatric patient population
- Scrub Color: Navy blue
- Schedule Requirements: Every other weekend and holiday coverage required
- Floating: Required within specialty and to lower acuity units as needed
Required Qualifications — CVICU RN / Critical Care Nurse
- Minimum 2 years of recent CVICU or CICU RN experience required (critical care nursing experience). First-time travelers with strong CVICU experience will be considered for this position.
- Active RN license in Maryland or Compact State (must be active at time of submission)
- BLS and ACLS (AHA only), CPI, and NIHSS certifications required
- CCRN certification preferred (cardiac-critical care certification)
- Experience with Epic electronic medical record (Epic charting) required
- Comfortable with 1:1 up to 1:3 patient ratios when appropriate
- Ability to float within specialty and to lower acuity units as needed
- Two professional references required from most recent employers (1 supervisor/manager and 1 charge RN)
- Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility (travel nurse requirement)
- Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)
Key Responsibilities — Cardiac ICU Nursing
- Provide expert critical care nursing for adult cardiac patients, including cardiogenic shock, cardiac arrest, heart failure, arrhythmias, MI, and advanced cardiac therapies
- Manage mechanical circulatory support and advanced devices (IABP, Impella, VAD), CRRT, ventilators, and cooling devices
- Perform and assist with bedside procedures: central/A-line management, bronchoscopy support, chest tube care, Swan/PA catheter management, and CRRT setup
- Interpret arterial blood gases, titrate vasoactive drips, and manage complex hemodynamic monitoring (CCO monitor)
- Document patient care accurately and efficiently in Epic EMR
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including perfusion, PT/OT, RT, pharmacy, social work, and transplant teams
- Participate in unit initiatives, quality improvement, and maintain compliance with hospital policies
