- Position Type: Travel RN – CVOR / Cardiac OR Nurse (Perioperative Nurse)
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,020 - $2,130 (competitive travel nurse pay)
- Location: Youngstown, Ohio (zip 44504) — Youngstown, OH nursing jobs, Ohio travel RN positions
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks
- Shift: 12 Hour Days (Monday–Friday; start times may vary 5:30am–6:30am per surgical schedule)
- Hours Per Week: 40
- On Call: 10–12 call shifts per 6-week schedule (including 1–2 weekends)
- Unit: 2 CVORs with a hybrid room for TAVRs
- Average Daily Caseload: 2–6 cases; ~6 cardiac cases per week (CABG, TAVR, VATS, general surgery)
Job Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of cardiac OR (CVOR) experience required — strong background in cardiac surgery nursing
- At least 1–2 years of general OR experience
- Previous travel nursing experience preferred (Travel RN experience a plus)
- Current RN license in Ohio or Compact RN licensure accepted
- Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIH Stroke
- Dysrhythmia Exam required (study guide available)
- Preferred certifications: CNOR, PALS, SGNA
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
Responsibilities
- Deliver safe, high-quality perioperative patient care using the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
- Provide pre-op, intra-op, and post-op nursing care for cardiac surgery patients, including assessment and discharge teaching
- Circulate and assist with CABG, TAVR/TAVRs, VATS, sternotomies, and other cardiac and general surgical procedures
- Anticipate scrub nurse needs, prepare and open sterile supplies, operate/monitor specialty equipment in the CVOR and hybrid room
- Coordinate nursing care within the OR and collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia, perfusionists, and perioperative team
- Monitor adherence to aseptic technique and sterile field maintenance; act as a patient safety advocate
- Assist anesthesia during induction and emergence when needed and manage intraoperative patient assessments
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and maintain documentation per facility and AORN/SGNA standards
