Job Requirements (ICU RN / Critical Care Nurse)
- Minimum 1 year of recent ICU experience required (critical care nursing experience preferred)
- Extensive cardiac monitoring and telemetry experience required
- Willingness to float to Medical-Surgical and Step-Down units as needed
- Current Illinois RN license required
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (education verification required)
- Current certifications: CPR/BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality intensive care nursing and clinical support in the ICU and related units
- Utilize the nursing process and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to deliver patient-centered care
- Administer medications and treatments per approved nursing protocols and physician orders
- Monitor cardiac telemetry, interpret rhythms, and respond to changes in patient condition
- Document care thoroughly and accurately according to standards of care
- Develop, initiate, and execute individualized patient care plans in collaboration with physicians
- Provide patient and family education, discharge instructions, and support during transitions of care
- Participate in unit performance improvement and maintain compliance with hospital policies
- Apply critical thinking to ensure patient safety and escalate concerns appropriately
