Job Details

• Unit: Cardiac Stepdown Unit — 20 beds, mix of private and semi-private rooms
• Charting System: EPIC (electronic medical record experience a plus)
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Dress Code: Any color scrubs

Required Qualifications (Registered Nurse / RN)

• Active RN license in Illinois (or proof of application in process) — travel RN credentialing supported
• Minimum 1 year recent ICU or Intermediate (Stepdown) RN experience with 3:1 or 2:1 nurse-to-patient ratios
• Experience caring for trach and ventilated (vent) patients required — ventilator care / critical care skills
• BLS (AHA required); ACLS recommended
• Competence titrating drips (Cardene, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Dobutamine, Heparin, vasopressors)
• Must pass a comprehensive drug screen (drug-free campus)
• Willingness to float to ICU, other stepdown, or general medical units as needed

Core Responsibilities (Cardiac Stepdown RN)

• Provide direct patient care for cardiac, respiratory, neuro, and post-surgical patients in a stepdown/acute care setting
• Manage and monitor ventilators, trachs, chest tubes, g-tubes, NG tubes, PICC lines, and central lines
• Titrate and monitor cardiac and vasoactive drips per protocol
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including charge nurses, patient care technicians, and telemetry/monitor technicians
• Document patient care, assessments, and interventions using EPIC
• Participate in unit orientation and ongoing education; support team-based continuity of care
• Float to other units as needed based on staffing and patient acuity
