Required Qualifications
- Active Texas RN license required (temporary licenses not accepted)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certifications required
- Minimum 2 years hospital experience in mother/baby care or newborn nursery
- Experience with couplet care (mother & baby) required
- Step-down NICU experience preferred
- Meditech electronic documentation experience preferred
- Adherence to facility dress code: clean, healthy nails (no artificial nails), hair neat/pulled back if shoulder length or longer, tattoos covered when possible, no visible piercings other than ears
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive newborn and mother-baby nursing care in the Newborn Nursery
- Float to the NICU step-down unit as needed to care for infants requiring higher acuity nursing
- Document patient care accurately using Meditech
- Collaborate with physicians, lactation consultants, respiratory therapists, and other clinical staff to ensure safe outcomes
- Maintain a safe, family-centered, and supportive environment for patients and families
- Follow unit and hospital policies, including attendance and floating guidelines
