Work in a Critical Access Hospital providing hands-on care to mothers, newborns, and postpartum patients in a supportive, collaborative OB environment. Job Details

  • Position: Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (L&D RN), Travel Nurse
  • Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,250 – $2,370
  • Location: Saint Croix Falls, WI 54024 — travel nursing job in Wisconsin
  • Contract Duration: 13 weeks (May 11, 2026 – August 10, 2026)
  • Shift: 12-hour nights (7:00pm – 7:00am) with weekend flexibility
  • Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
  • Setting: Labor & Delivery Unit (6 LDRP beds) at a Critical Access Hospital; average of 17 births per month and approximately 220 births per year
  • Orientation: 2 shifts of OB department-specific orientation

Required Qualifications (Labor & Delivery Nurse / OB Nurse)

  • Minimum 1 year of recent OB/Labor & Delivery experience (L&D RN experience preferred)
  • Active RN license (Wisconsin or compact state)
  • BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications required
  • AWHONN EMF Intermediate and STABLE certifications preferred
  • Comfortable managing labor & delivery, postpartum care, mom/babe couplets, and well baby nursery
  • Ability to care for post-surgical patients (e.g., post-appendectomy, post-cholecystectomy) on the OB unit
  • Experience titrating drips (Oxytocin, magnesium, insulin)
  • Med/Surg background preferred; willingness to float to MedSurg unit as needed
  • Experience with EPIC or similar electronic medical record (EMR) strongly preferred

Key Responsibilities (L&D RN / OB Nurse Duties)

  • Provide comprehensive, evidence-based nursing care to laboring mothers, postpartum patients, and newborns
  • Manage mom/babe couplets and the well baby nursery, including IV antibiotics, IV dextrose, feeders/growers, and bili baby care
  • Care for post-surgical OB patients on the unit and coordinate multidisciplinary post-op care
  • Titrate and monitor Oxytocin, magnesium, and insulin drips per protocol
  • Collaborate with OB physicians, neonatologists, anesthesia, and other care team members (in-house weekdays, on-call after hours)
  • Float to Med/Surg unit to assist when OB is closed, providing flexible clinical support
  • Document patient care accurately using EPIC charting and adhere to unit policies and AWHONN guidelines
  • Maintain appropriate patient ratios and deliver patient-centered, compassionate care
  • Work every 3rd weekend and every 3rd holiday as scheduled
