Job Details
- Location: Hilo, HI 96720 – Big Island, Hawaii. Ideal for travel nurses seeking Hawaii nursing jobs with waterfalls, scenic coastlines, and a welcoming community.
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks (June 1, 2026 – August 31, 2026)
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,800 – $1,890 (competitive travel nurse compensation)
- Hours / Shift: 36 hours per week after orientation; 12-hour shifts (typical travel nurse schedule)
- Unit: Cardiac Progressive Care Unit (PCU) – 15 beds (3 Step-down ICU, 12 Telemetry)
- Floating: May float to Medical, Surgical/Peds, ICU, and ER as needed
- Dress Code: Scrubs
Job Requirements / Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license. (Must apply for Hawaii RN license upon offer if not already licensed in Hawaii)
- At least 1 year of recent hospital acute care experience (within the last year)
- Progressive Care (PCU) and telemetry nurse experience preferred
- ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS certifications preferred
- Must arrive in Hilo the Thursday before assignment starts for pre-employment health screening
Responsibilities
- Provide primary nursing care to Cardiac PCU patients, including continuous cardiac monitoring and telemetry strip interpretation (cardiac telemetry nurse duties)
- Perform point-of-care testing such as fingerstick blood glucose checks
- Use Meditech electronic charting, Pyxis medication dispensing systems, BIPAP, and other continuous monitoring equipment
- Deliver safe, patient-centered care in a step-down ICU/acute care environment and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams
- Float to other acute care areas (Medical, Surgical/Peds, ICU, ER) to support staffing flexibility as a travel nurse
