Qualifications / Job Requirements
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required
- At least 1 year of experience as a Respiratory Therapist in a hospital or acute care setting
- Cardiopulmonary certification or equivalent pulmonary care credentials
- Experience with mechanical ventilation, oxygen therapy, and aerosol therapies preferred
- Ability to work 12-hour night shifts and thrive in a fast-paced hospital environment
- Strong communication, teamwork, and documentation skills
Primary Responsibilities – Respiratory Care & Clinical Duties
- Provide direct respiratory care to patients across the lifespan—from premature infants to geriatric patients—diagnosed with breathing or cardiopulmonary disorders
- Evaluate, treat, and monitor patients using oxygen therapy, aerosol medication, chest physiotherapy, and mechanical ventilation (ventilator management)
- Perform respiratory assessments, initiate and manage airway support, and respond to code/rapid response situations as needed
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams to manage COPD, asthma, pneumonia, and other pulmonary conditions
- Document patient progress, treatment interventions, and ventilator changes in the medical record; adjust treatment plans per clinical status
- Maintain equipment safety, infection control standards, and a supportive patient care environment
