Required Qualifications
- Active RN license in New Mexico or valid compact RN license
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA)
- Minimum 1 year of oncology nursing experience or related specialty (hematology-oncology, infusion/chemotherapy)
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
Preferred Skills (Helpful for Oncology Travel Nurse Candidates)
- Experience with chemotherapy administration, infusion pumps, and central line care
- Familiarity with oncology protocols, symptom management, and cancer care education
- Strong clinical documentation skills in electronic medical records (EMR)
- Ability to work independently on night shift and collaborate with multidisciplinary oncology teams
Responsibilities
- Provide routine and complex oncology care, including chemotherapy and infusion support, demonstrating clinical competence as an Oncology RN
- Perform nursing process: comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients
- Administer medications and treatments per oncology protocols; monitor for effectiveness, side effects, and infusion reactions
- Monitor and manage central lines, ports, and infusion devices; respond to infusion-related complications
- Document patient history, symptoms, treatments, and nursing care accurately in the EMR
- Assess and address complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families; provide patient-centered cancer care
- Educate patients, families, and caregivers on treatment plans, side effect management, and available resources
- Delegate assignments and collaborate with nursing assistants, pharmacists, oncologists, and support staff to ensure safe, high-quality oncology care
