- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,020 – $2,130
- Location: Greenville, NC (27834) — Located in the heart of eastern North Carolina, Greenville is known for its vibrant community, thriving arts scene, and excellent dining options. - Setting: 48-bed Cancer Center Medical Oncology unit (medical oncology / hematology)
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks (travel nursing contract)
- Shift: 12-hour night shifts (19:00 – 07:30)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Scheduling: Self-scheduling; must work 3 out of 4 holidays and 6 weekend shifts within a 6-week schedule
- Staffing Ratios: 1:4 RN to patient (may flex to 1:5 or 1:6 as needed)
- Number of Positions: 7 travel RN openings
Qualifications & Job Requirements
- Minimum 2 years recent Oncology RN experience (medical oncology / hematology oncology)
- Active RN license required (Compact license accepted) — North Carolina nursing jobs welcome
- BLS from AHA required
- Strong oncology background with chemotherapy administration and infusion therapy experience
- Proficient phlebotomy skills, peripheral and arterial blood draws
- IV start skills and management of continuous infusion medications
- Ability to read and interpret cardiac strips and manage arrhythmias (unit is not monitored by techs)
- Must pass EKG and Pharmacology exams during the compliance/prestart process
- All time off must be negotiated prior to confirmation
- Must reside outside an 80-mile radius from Greenville, NC (travel nurse eligibility)
Key Responsibilities
- Administer chemotherapy and manage continuous infusion therapies safely and per protocol
- Provide pain management and complex fluid/medication management for oncology patients
- Perform wound vac dressing changes, manage wound drains, and care for central lines and chest tubes
- Care for tracheostomy patients and other high-acuity medical oncology cases
- Monitor and analyze cardiac rhythms and respond to rhythm changes without monitor tech support
- Manage intravenous drips including cardiac, insulin, and heparin infusions
- Caring for immunocompromised patients, patients with radiation complications, and those with multi-system involvement
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary and ancillary staff for comprehensive patient care (pharmacy, oncology providers, case management)
