Job Details
- Setting: Main Surgery Unit – Operating Room (9 OR rooms)
- Patient Population: Adults & Geriatrics
- Daily Census: 20–30 patients
- Specialties: Orthopedic surgeries, Robotic-assisted procedures
- Call Requirements: 4–6 weeknights/month (8:30 pm–6:30 am); 1 weekend call rotation/month (self-scheduled)
- Travel Nurse Requirement: Permanent address must be >100 miles from central Columbus
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (state-specific license or compact/multi-state where applicable)
- Minimum 2 years recent experience as an OR RN or Perioperative RN in a high-acuity, large OR setting
- Strong experience with orthopedic and robotic surgeries (scrub and circulate)
- ACLS and BLS (AHA) certifications required
- Proficiency with electronic health records/charting systems
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills for interdisciplinary surgical teams
Primary Responsibilities
- Perform circulating and scrub roles across a variety of surgical cases with emphasis on ortho and robotics
- Provide perioperative nursing care, ensuring patient safety and quality outcomes during pre-op, intra-op, and post-op phases
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia, OR techs, and ancillary staff to coordinate efficient surgical flow
- Maintain accurate documentation and charting throughout the perioperative process using the facility's EHR
- Participate in monthly call rotations and cover holidays as scheduled
- Adhere to hospital policies, sterile technique, and regulatory compliance for patient and staff safety
