Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse (RN) travel assignment in Springfield, Ohio — 13-week night shift opportunity for stepdown/acute care RNs. Join a supportive healthcare team caring for adult and geriatric patients in a modern facility near parks and city amenities.
Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,800 – $1,890 (travel nursing pay)
- Location: Springfield, Ohio (zip 45504) — Ohio nursing jobs, Springfield healthcare
- Assignment Duration: 13 weeks (May 18, 2026 – August 17, 2026)
- Shift: 12-hour nights, every third weekend, every other holiday (night shift travel nurse)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Unit: 3 North / ICU Stepdown (30-bed PCU / stepdown unit)
- Scrubs: Navy blue
Job Requirements (Qualifications)
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio or compact state (required) — eligible for Ohio RN jobs
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (required)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification (required)
- NIH Stroke Scale certification (required)
- EKG exam (required; study guide provided)
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience (required); 6 months acute care hospital or stepdown experience preferred
- Experience caring for adult and geriatric patient populations and post-ICU/stepdown patients
- Strong interpersonal, critical thinking, and communication skills — patient advocacy and teamwork
Responsibilities (PCU / Stepdown RN Duties)
- Perform initial and ongoing patient assessments and develop individualized care plans for adult and geriatric patients
- Safely administer medications and titrate IV drips per protocol (including hypertensive emergencies)
- Manage patients with lines, drains, and devices: NG tubes, JP drains, wound vacs, chest tubes, central lines, PICC lines, HD lines
- Monitor and provide care for patients requiring all oxygen modalities (excluding ventilator management)
- Provide stepdown/intermediate care for post-ICU and COVID+ patients and other complex medical cases
- Respond to acute events including confusion/agitation, substance withdrawal, and rapid clinical changes
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (physicians, respiratory therapy, PT/OT, case management) to coordinate safe care transitions
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, infection control, and patient safety programs
- Educate patients and families about diagnoses, medications, and discharge or transition plans
