• Location: Mechanicsville, VA 23116 (Hanover County; Richmond metro area)
• Unit: Cardiac Medical Stepdown (Progressive Care Unit, PCU, Telemetry)
• Start Date: June 22, 2026
• End Date: September 19, 2026
• Duration: 13 weeks
• Shift: 12-hour nights (required every other weekend and major holidays)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,020 – $2,130 (competitive travel nurse pay)

PCU Registered Nurse Requirements – Travel RN Qualifications

• Active RN license in Virginia or multistate compact RN license (VA accepted)
• Minimum 1 year of recent RN experience required (Telemetry / Cardiac stepdown experience preferred)
• Proficiency in lab draws, telemetry monitoring, and cardiac rhythm interpretation (EKG/telemetry)
• Must pass EKG exam at orientation (study guide provided)
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• Comfortable caring for adult and geriatric patient populations with cardiac conditions
• No local candidates; must reside outside a 50-mile radius (travel nurse requirement)

Core Responsibilities – Cardiac Stepdown Nurse

• Provide comprehensive nursing care for patients in a 24-bed Cardiac Medical Stepdown (PCU) unit
• Perform initial and ongoing assessments, develop and implement individualized care plans, and evaluate patient outcomes
• Administer medications, manage cardiac drips, insulin drips, and advanced therapies such as BiPAP and PCA
• Interpret cardiac rhythms, respond to arrhythmias, and collaborate with providers on telemetry-driven interventions
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care, discharge planning, and patient education
• Operate and monitor clinical equipment including Alaris infusion pumps, bedside cardiac monitors, BiPAP devices, and GlucoStabilizer
• Maintain accurate documentation, follow facility policies/procedures, and advocate for patient safety and quality care
• Respond decisively to rapidly changing patient conditions in a fast-paced cardiac stepdown environment
