Travel PCU Registered Nurse (RN) – Night Shift in Columbus, OH. 13-week contract, 3x12 nights; PCU/critical care and telemetry experience required.
Job Details – Progressive Care Unit (PCU) RN
- Location: Columbus, OH 43203 (Columbus healthcare jobs / Ohio nursing jobs)
- Setting: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) – telemetry / step-down
- Role: Progressive Care Unit Registered Nurse (PCU RN) – Travel Nurse
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Start Date: June 29, 2026
- End Date: September 28, 2026
- Shift: Night – 3x12-hour nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM), includes every other weekend
- Hours per Week: 36
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,940 – $2,040
- Patient Ratio: 1:3 (PCU critical care / telemetry nurse ratio)
- Unit Beds: 19
- Orientation: 24 hours
Job Requirements – PCU RN Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of recent Progressive Care Unit (PCU) or step-down/telemetry experience required
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license: compact or Ohio state license in hand at submission (Ohio nursing jobs)
- Graduate of an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
- Current BLS and ACLS required; NIHSS preferred
- EPIC charting experience required (EPIC experience / electronic health record)
- Clinical proficiency in conscious sedation, ventilator management, telemetry, and titration of drips
- Skills in BiPAP/CPAP management, central line care, and vasoactive/insulin infusions
- Ability to float to units of equivalent or lower acuity as needed
- Two professional references required (one from a manager/director or supervisor)
- Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only)
Key Responsibilities – Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Nurse
- Deliver high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in a fast-paced, high-acuity PCU/telemetry environment
- Manage patients with respiratory failure, stroke, myocardial infarction (MI), DKA, COPD, and other acute conditions
- Perform and monitor conscious sedation, ventilator care, and continuous telemetry monitoring
- Utilize advanced critical care skills including BiPAP/CPAP, central line maintenance, and titration of cardiac, vasoactive, and insulin drips
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams: respiratory therapy, physical therapy, radiology, pharmacy, social work, and physicians
- Participate in rapid response and code teams as needed (critical care response)
- Float to other units of similar or lower acuity when required
- Document patient care accurately and timely using EPIC (electronic charting)
