• Position: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse / PCU RN / Cardiac Stepdown Nurse
• Assignment Type: Travel RN (Travel Nurse Opportunity)
• Unit: Cardiac Medical Stepdown (PCU)
• Duration: 13 weeks (Start: 6/8/2026 – End: 9/5/2026)
• Shift: 12-hour Days (required to work every other weekend and major holidays)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,020 – $2,130 (competitive travel nurse pay)

Qualifications & Requirements

• Active RN license in Virginia or a Compact RN license (required)
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience (required); PCU/stepdown, med-surgical, or cardiac experience preferred
• Proficiency in lab draws (required)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications and NIHSS certification (required)
• Must pass EKG exam at orientation (study guide provided)
• Experience with cardiac drips, titrations, BiPAP, and insulin drips preferred
• Strong clinical judgment, communication, and teamwork skills
• No local candidates: must live outside a 50-mile radius

Primary Responsibilities

• Perform initial and ongoing patient assessments and develop individualized care plans for PCU patients
• Safely administer medications and titratable cardiac drips, insulin drips, and other therapies
• Monitor and manage patients with cardiac, surgical, renal, and respiratory conditions, including those requiring continuous BiPAP
• Operate and troubleshoot common clinical equipment: Alaris pumps, bedside cardiac monitors, PCA, GlucoStabilizer, patient lifts
• Coordinate interdisciplinary care and communicate effectively with physicians, therapists, and families
• Maintain accurate documentation in the medical record and uphold patient safety and quality standards
• Support patients and families through education, advocacy, and compassionate care
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement and professional development activities
