Travel Registered Nurse (PCU/Stepdown) – 13-week travel nursing job in Youngstown, OH (44504) for experienced Neuro/Stepdown RNs. Join a dedicated team on the 8SE Neuro Progressive Care Unit (PCU) and make a meaningful impact in intermediate-level, step-down care.
Job Details – Youngstown, Ohio Travel Nursing
- Location: Youngstown, OH 44504 (Northeast Ohio; vibrant travel nursing destination – local candidates not accepted)
- Position / Setting: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Stepdown – 8SE Neuro Unit (40 beds)
- Role: Travel Registered Nurse (PCU Nurse / Stepdown RN / Neuro RN)
- Contract Length: 13 weeks (June 15, 2026 – September 14, 2026)
- Shift: 12-hour nights
- Hours per Week: 36
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,800 – $1,890 (competitive travel nursing pay)
- Patient Ratios: 1:5 on nights (subject to change based on staffing)
- Note: Travelers will not be assigned to pediatric patients
Required Qualifications – Registered Nurse (Ohio)
- Active RN license in Ohio or a compact state (required)
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience (required); PCU/stepdown or med-surg experience preferred
- Neuro/stroke experience preferred (Neuro RN experience a plus)
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications (required)
- Dysrhythmia Exam (required; study guide available)
- Experience with intermediate-level care, cardiac drips, and advanced monitoring preferred
- EPIC EHR experience and Critical Care Course preferred
Primary Responsibilities – PCU / Stepdown RN Duties
- Perform initial and ongoing patient assessments and develop individualized care plans for progressive care and step-down patients
- Administer medications safely and according to hospital policies and procedures
- Coordinate interdisciplinary patient care and act as the primary RN contact for care teams and families
- Serve as a patient safety advocate and participate in quality improvement and stroke care initiatives
- Manage patients with multi-system organ failure, cardiac drips, and advanced respiratory modalities
- Respond confidently to rapidly changing patient conditions and emergencies, utilizing ACLS and dysrhythmia interpretation skills
- Apply evidence-based nursing practice and the nursing process to deliver compassionate care in a busy PCU/stepdown environment
- Maintain professionalism, cultural sensitivity, and clear communication with patients, families, and the care team
