Registered Nurse (RN) – Progressive Care Unit (PCU) – Nights. 13-week travel nursing contract in Mechanicsville, VA (23116) for experienced cardiac/telemetry RNs. Must hold Virginia or compact RN license, BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS.

Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,020 – $2,130
• Setting: Cardiac Medical Stepdown Unit / Progressive Care Unit (24 beds) — cardiac telemetry
• Location: Mechanicsville, VA 23116 (near Richmond, VA)
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks (6/22/2026 – 9/19/2026)
• Shift: 12-hour nights (required every other weekend and major holidays)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Type: Travel Nurse, On-site
• Candidate Requirement: No local candidates — must live outside a 50-mile radius

Job Requirements

• Current RN license in Virginia or compact state (Registered Nurse)
• BLS and ACLS required; NIHSS certification required
• Must pass EKG exam at orientation (study guide provided) — telemetry/ECG competency preferred
• Proficient in lab draws and acute care skills
• Minimum 1 year RN experience required; 6 months acute care/hospital experience preferred
• Experience with cardiac patients, drips, and telemetry monitoring strongly preferred

Responsibilities

• Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments, develop and implement individualized care plans, and evaluate treatment effectiveness
• Administer medications safely and in accordance with hospital policies and protocols
• Coordinate patient care and serve as primary point of contact for families and interdisciplinary teams
• Manage patients with cardiac, surgical, renal, and respiratory conditions, including BiPAP and other noninvasive ventilatory support
• Perform and manage cardiac drips and titrations, insulin drips, and continuous cardiac rhythm monitoring
• Use bedside equipment including Alaris infusion pumps, PCA pumps, GlucoStabilizer, bedside cardiac monitors, and patient lifts
• Act as a patient safety advocate and participate in unit quality improvement initiatives
• Respond confidently to rapidly changing patient conditions and emergencies (acute care, telemetry, code response)
• Collaborate with spiritual care, palliative care, and ethics teams as needed
• Maintain professionalism, compassion, and clear communication with patients, families, and clinical teams
