Job Requirements / Qualifications
- Current RN license in Ohio or compact state (required)
- BLS and ACLS certification (required)
- NIH Stroke Certification (required)
- Dysrhythmia Exam (required; study guide available)
- Ventilator experience (required) — experience with vents, trachs, BiPAP/CPAP, High Flow, Airvo
- Insulin drip experience (required) and experience administering/monitoring drips (e.g., Cardizem, Amio; no pressors)
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience (required); 6 months RN experience in an acute care hospital setting preferred
- Strong higher-acuity experience (required) — comfortable with multi-system organ failure, trauma, respiratory, renal, and surgical needs
- Willingness to float to like/lower units (PCU, SDU, IMC, lower levels of care)
Responsibilities
- Perform initial and ongoing patient assessments, interpret clinical data, and develop individualized care plans
- Safely administer medications and manage infusion/drip therapy according to hospital policies
- Manage care for patients with complex, multi-system needs including trauma, respiratory failure, renal issues, and post-surgical care
- Operate and monitor advanced respiratory modalities (mechanical ventilation, tracheostomy care, BiPAP/CPAP, High Flow, Airvo)
- Administer and monitor cardiac and anti-arrhythmic drips (Cardizem, Amio) and manage insulin drips
- Serve as a patient safety advocate and participate in unit-based quality improvement initiatives
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (physicians, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, case management) and act as a point of contact for care coordination
- Float to similar or lower acuity units as needed and support unit throughput and patient flow
- Provide compassionate, relationship-based care and clear communication with patients and families
- Adhere to infection control, safety protocols, and professional standards
