- Job Type: Travel Nurse – Registered Nurse (RN), Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
- Location: Columbus, OH 43210 (Central Columbus, Ohio healthcare jobs)
- Unit/Setting: 11 West Doan Hall – General Medicine, mixed med-surg PCU
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks (Start: 7/13/2026 – End: 10/12/2026)
- Shift: Day shifts, 3x12-hour (07:00 – 19:30), weekdays plus some weekends
- Hours per Week: 36
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,940 – $2,040
- Patient Population: Adults and geriatrics (med-surg, progressive care)
- Unit Details: 27 beds, daily census ~23, typical patient ratio 1:4
- Parking: Multiple permit options available
Job Requirements / Qualifications
- Active Ohio Registered Nurse (RN) license (compact or state license in hand at time of submission)
- Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience; progressive care, med-surg, or step-down experience preferred
- BCLS (AHA) and IV certification required; PICC/IV therapy experience preferred
- Graduate of an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
- EPIC EMR experience preferred (electronic health record proficiency)
- Strong communication, critical thinking, prioritization, and multitasking skills
- Previous travel nursing experience a plus
- Ability and willingness to float to lower-acuity units as needed
- Two professional references required (at least one from manager/director or formal leadership)
- Seasonal flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only)
Key Responsibilities
- Provide progressive care nursing for adult and geriatric patients, managing complex med-surg needs
- Start and manage IVs, including PICC line care and troubleshooting
- Administer medications safely and monitor patient responses; follow medication administration policies
- Interpret cardiac rhythms and manage dysrhythmias; administer oxygen therapy and manage chest tubes as indicated
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop nursing care plans
- Educate patients and families on treatments, discharge planning, and self-care
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (physical therapy, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, social work, case management)
- Document accurately in EPIC EMR and maintain compliance with hospital policies and safety protocols
- Participate on rapid response and code teams when required
- Float to other units within the organization as staffing needs dictate
