Experienced Med/Surg Registered Nurse needed for a 13-week travel nursing assignment in Springfield, Illinois. - Shift Duration: 12 Hour Days
- Hours Per Week: 36
- Setting: Acute care Med/Surg Urology/Nephrology unit
- Patient Population: Adult patients
- Unit Size: 25 beds with an average daily census of 23
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Float Requirement: Float to other Medical-Surgical units as needed
Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg nursing experience required
- Active Illinois RN license required at time of application
- BLS certification required
- Experience with Med/Surg and MS/Tele patient care required
- Cerner charting experience required
- Previous charge nurse experience required
- Strong skills in telemetry remote monitoring and rapid response support
- Experience with renal failure, pre/post hemodialysis management, and urology/nephrology patient care preferred
- Ability to manage IV therapy, PICC lines, central line blood draws, blood product administration, and peripheral line care
- Comfort with respiratory support interventions including CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, oxygen therapy, and oral suctioning
- Knowledge of isolation precautions, wound care, wound vacs, and post-operative care
Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to adult Med/Surg patients in a high-acuity Urology/Nephrology unit
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans
- Monitor patients with renal, urologic, post-surgical, and general medical-surgical conditions
- Administer medications and treatments safely, including heparin and blood products
- Manage telemetry monitoring and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition
- Perform and support IV starts, PICC care, central line management, and phlebotomy-related tasks within scope
- Assist with specialized care such as continuous bladder irrigation, urinary catheter management, nephrostomy tubes, chest tubes, drains, and wound care
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including therapy, respiratory, pharmacy, radiology, social services, and rapid response teams
- Float to other Medical-Surgical units as needed to support patient care operations
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in Cerner
