Experienced Med/Surg Registered Nurse needed for a 13-week travel nursing assignment in Springfield, Illinois.   • Unit Size: 25 beds with an average daily census of 23
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • Float Requirement: Float to other Medical-Surgical units as needed

Registered Nurse Job Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg nursing experience required
  • Active Illinois RN license required at time of application
  • BLS certification required
  • Experience with Med/Surg and MS/Tele patient care required
  • Cerner charting experience required
  • Previous charge nurse experience required
  • Strong skills in telemetry remote monitoring and rapid response support
  • Experience with renal failure, pre/post hemodialysis management, and urology/nephrology patient care preferred
  • Ability to manage IV therapy, PICC lines, central line blood draws, blood product administration, and peripheral line care
  • Comfort with respiratory support interventions including CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, oxygen therapy, and oral suctioning
  • Knowledge of isolation precautions, wound care, wound vacs, and post-operative care

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care to adult Med/Surg patients in a high-acuity Urology/Nephrology unit
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans
  • Monitor patients with renal, urologic, post-surgical, and general medical-surgical conditions
  • Administer medications and treatments safely, including heparin and blood products
  • Manage telemetry monitoring and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition
  • Perform and support IV starts, PICC care, central line management, and phlebotomy-related tasks within scope
  • Assist with specialized care such as continuous bladder irrigation, urinary catheter management, nephrostomy tubes, chest tubes, drains, and wound care
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including therapy, respiratory, pharmacy, radiology, social services, and rapid response teams
  • Float to other Medical-Surgical units as needed to support patient care operations
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in Cerner
