Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Psychiatric Registered Nurse (RN) with behavioral health experience to support adult patients in a fast-paced psychiatric unit. This travel nurse position is ideal for nurses who are confident in psychiatric assessments, de-escalation techniques, patient safety, and maintaining a therapeutic environment for individuals with complex mental health needs.
Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,020 - $2,130
- Schedule: 12-hour night shifts
- Hours: 36 hours per week
- Duration: 13 weeks
- Start Date: 8/24/2026
- Shift Rotation: 2 weekends per month
- On Call: No
- Setting: Adult psychiatric unit / behavioral health unit
- Floating: May float to Med Surg units or support as a sitter
- EMR: Epic preferred
- Scrub Color: Any solid color without graphics, logos, or designs
Job Requirements
- At least 1 year of psychiatric nursing or behavioral health nursing experience required
- Additional Med Surg or acute care experience preferred
- Valid RN license in Washington state or compact licensure eligible
- BLS certification required
- CPI or MOAB certification required
- Comfortable working with patients experiencing schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, bipolar disorder, major depressive disorder, suicidal ideation, dementia with behaviors, and diabetes
- Strong communication, teamwork, critical thinking, and patient safety skills
- Open to first-time travelers
Responsibilities
- Perform thorough psychiatric assessments and ongoing patient monitoring
- Use de-escalation techniques to support a safe, therapeutic behavioral health environment
- Provide care for patients who may require physical restraints in accordance with policy and safety standards
- Administer nursing interventions and coordinate care for adults with complex mental health and medical needs
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team to support individualized treatment plans
- Document patient status, nursing interventions, and clinical observations accurately in the EMR
- Maintain professionalism and compassion while supporting patients, families, and team members
