Job Requirements

• Active Illinois RN license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
• Minimum of 1 year of recent acute care nursing or telemetry nursing experience required
• Current BLS certification required
• ACLS certification recommended
• Strong EKG interpretation skills required
• Ability to titrate drips, including Cardizem and heparin
• Comfort caring for adult telemetry and cardio-thoracic patients
• Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips independently
• EPIC experience preferred
• Must be comfortable working in a drug-free campus environment and meeting pre-employment screening requirements

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, high-quality nursing care to adult patients in a cardio-thoracic telemetry setting
• Monitor cardiac rhythms and accurately interpret telemetry strips
• Administer medications and titrate ordered drips according to protocol
• Care for patients with MI, CHF, A-fib, COPD, pacemakers, AICDs, and post-thoracic surgery needs
• Support patients with chest tubes, esophagectomy recovery, and general medical overflow needs
• Collaborate with charge nurses, house supervisors, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient progress accurately in EPIC
• Contribute to a professional, patient-centered, and efficient acute care unit environment
