• Position: Travel Med/Surg Registered Nurse (RN)
• Employment Type: Travel Nursing Assignment
• Setting: Acute Care Med/Surg Unit
• Location: Hastings, Nebraska 68901
• Duration: 13 weeks
• Weekly Hours: 36 hours per week
• Shift: 12-hour days, every other weekend
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,800–$1,890
• Charting System: EPIC
• Float Requirement: May float to PCU for Med/Surg overflow or low-acuity PCU patients

Job Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg nursing or acute care RN experience required
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license required
• BLS certification required
• NIHSS certification required
• Strong clinical judgment and comfort with a varied adult Med/Surg patient population
• Ability to work 12-hour day shifts and every other weekend
• Experience with chest tubes preferred
• Charge nurse experience is a plus, but not required
• Flexibility and adaptability to float as needed in a hospital setting

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate, patient-centered nursing care to adult Med/Surg patients
• Manage a patient assignment in a 30-bed acute care unit with typical ratios of 1:4–6
• Care for patients with conditions such as dementia, post-surgical recovery, falls, influenza, pneumonia, failure to thrive, cancer, and COVID-19
• Perform skilled nursing interventions including pain management, TPN support, CBI, wound care, and other Med/Surg treatments
• Collaborate with nurses, nursing assistants, respiratory therapy, and monitor techs to support quality patient outcomes
• Assist with charge nurse duties when appropriate and based on experience
• Document accurately and thoroughly in EPIC electronic health record (EHR)
• Adapt to unit workflow, block scheduling, and occasional floating based on patient care needs
