- Schedule: 3x12s or 4x12s
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend; holiday coverage required within the contract
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,910 - $2,010
- Start Date: 8/24/2026
- Patient Population: Adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
- Floating: Required to Stepdown and may float to the ED or Medical-Surgical units to care for ICU patients being held
- Orientation: Pre-start modules required
Job Requirements
- Active Virginia RN license or compact RN license in hand at time of submission
- Minimum 1 year of ICU nursing or critical care experience required; 3 years preferred
- Previous travel nursing experience preferred
- Proficiency with Epic electronic medical record (EMR) required
- Strong neuro critical care experience required, including post-neurosurgical care, EVDs, and stroke patients
- Experience with ventilator management, IV drip titration, telemetry monitoring, conscious sedation, and dysrhythmia management
- Required certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Ability to pass required EKG testing with an 80% or higher on the first attempt
- Must be eligible to work in a setting that does not accommodate PAPR use
- Must have no prior license or background hits
- Permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the facility for RN consideration
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality critical care to complex ICU patients with neurological, respiratory, renal, surgical, trauma, and cardiac conditions
- Monitor and manage ventilators, vasoactive drips, sedation, telemetry, and emergency interventions
- Care for patients with multisystem organ dysfunction, sepsis, heart failure, and post-surgical recovery needs
- Perform skilled nursing interventions such as arterial line management, central line care, blood product administration, and EKG interpretation
- Support patients requiring advanced ICU therapies including CRRT/CVVHD, hypothermia protocol, ICP monitoring, EVD care, and fresh tracheostomy support
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including respiratory therapy, IV teams, pharmacy, rapid response, radiology, and social services
- Float as needed to Stepdown or to ED/Med-Surg areas caring for ICU-level patients held in those units
- Maintain safe, accurate, and timely charting while meeting unit and compliance requirements throughout the assignment
