Job Details
- Location: Chesapeake, Virginia 23320
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,800 - $1,890
- Shift Duration: 12-hour day shifts
- Schedule Options: 3x12s or 4x12s
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Floating: Required to Stepdown and may float to ED/Med-Surg to care for ICU patients being held
- Holidays: Travelers must work two of the three winter holidays
- Charting System: Epic
- Setting: Adult ICU / Critical Care
- Start Date: 08/24/2026
Job Requirements
- Active Virginia RN license or Compact RN license in hand at time of submission
- 3 years of critical care experience preferred; strong candidates with less experience may be considered
- Strong neuro critical care experience preferred, including post-neurosurgical and stroke care
- Proficiency with Epic EMR required
- Previous travel nursing experience preferred
- Experience with ventilators, IV drip titration, telemetry monitoring, and conscious sedation
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required
- Must pass EKG testing with a score of 80% or higher
- Must have a clean license and background history
- Must be able to meet fit testing requirements
- Local candidates within 50 miles are not eligible
Responsibilities
- Provide safe, high-quality nursing care to adult ICU patients with complex medical needs
- Monitor and manage critically ill patients with neuro, respiratory, renal, trauma, septic, and cardiac conditions
- Administer and titrate IV drips, cardiac drips, and vasoactive medications
- Interpret telemetry and dysrhythmias and respond appropriately to changing patient conditions
- Manage ventilated patients and support advanced respiratory care needs
- Deliver conscious sedation and assist with emergency response interventions
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to support patient recovery and continuity of care
- Float as needed to Stepdown or other designated units to support ICU-level patients
