- Float: May float from the patient floor to admissions
Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- Active RN license required
- Minimum 1 year of nursing experience required
- At least 1 year of psych nursing experience preferred
- BLS certification required through AHA
- CPI or HWC certification required
- ADN required
- Ability to pass a background check
- Comfortable working with adult behavioral health patients
- Team-oriented, flexible, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment
- Strong de-escalation and crisis intervention skills
Psychiatric Nursing Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care to adults in a behavioral health unit
- Monitor patient conditions and respond appropriately to changing needs
- Support patients with voluntary admissions, detox, and other mental health needs
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team to maintain a safe, therapeutic environment
- Use de-escalation techniques to help manage challenging situations
- Document patient care accurately in the EHR
- Assist with patient flow as needed, including floating to admissions
- Follow unit protocols and maintain a professional, compassionate approach at all times
