Job Details
- Position: PCU Registered Nurse / Stepdown RN / IMC RN
- Location: Springfield, Illinois
- Setting: Acute care hospital, fast-paced intermediate care unit
- Assignment Type: Travel Nursing Job
- Shift: 12-hour day shifts
- Hours per Week: 36
- Schedule: 3x12 schedule preferred; 4x12 may be accommodated
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,890 - $1,990
- Patient Ratio: 1:4
- Charting System: Cerner preferred
- Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend
- Floating: May float as needed within scope
- Orientation: 24 hours
Job Requirements
- Active Illinois Registered Nurse license required
- Minimum 1 year of recent PCU, stepdown, IMC, or telemetry nursing experience required
- BLS and NIHSS required
- ACLS preferred
- Experience with telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and rapid response support
- Strong skills in managing cardiac, respiratory, neurological, and post-procedure patients
- Experience with ventilated patients, tracheostomy care, and chest tube management
- Ability to care for adult patients with complex medical-surgical needs
- Travel nursing experience preferred
- Ability to work in a high-throughput, team-oriented healthcare environment
Responsibilities
- Provide safe, high-quality nursing care to adult PCU and stepdown patients
- Monitor telemetry and recognize changes in patient condition promptly
- Administer medications and manage cardiac, vasoactive, and heparin protocols as ordered
- Care for patients recovering from cardiac, neurological, respiratory, orthopedic, and surgical procedures
- Support patients requiring oxygen therapy, tracheostomy care, wound care, and complex line management
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to support coordinated patient care
- Respond quickly to changes in status and assist with rapid response interventions
- Maintain accurate documentation and support efficient patient flow in a busy acute care unit
- Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care in a dynamic hospital setting
