- Shift Duration: 12-hour rotating shifts
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,860–$1,960
- Schedule: Variable days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays; no guarantee of hours or shift preference
- On-Call: 0–3 times per month
- Setting: Pre-op, Phase I, and Phase II recovery
Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- 2+ years of PACU experience preferred; critical care RN experience in ER or ICU may be accepted as a substitute
- Active Hawaii RN license required by the start date
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association
- PALS certification recommended and may be required for certain assignments
- Other specialty certifications such as NIHSS or TNCC may be preferred
- Ability to work rotating shifts and participate in on-call coverage as needed
- Flu vaccination or approved exemption required prior to contract start
PACU Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality patient care in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit for surgical recovery patients
- Monitor patients during Phase I and Phase II recovery for safety, comfort, and stability
- Assess incision sites, vital signs, body temperature, and signs of complications
- Support anesthesiology recovery needs with strong critical thinking and clinical assessment skills
- Use unit equipment and technology including Meditech, PCA pumps, Pyxis, IV pumps, cryocuffs, SCDs, warmers, and patient monitors
- Collaborate with the surgical team, anesthesia providers, and nursing staff to ensure smooth patient transitions and excellent outcomes
