This 13-week travel nursing assignment supports a pediatric emergency department serving patients from newborns through adolescents. Job Details
- Setting: Pediatric Emergency Department
- Employment Type: Travel RN / Travel Registered Nurse
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks
- Schedule: 12-hour night shifts
- Weekly Hours: 36 hours per week
- Weekend/Holiday Requirement: Every other weekend and major holidays required
- Location: Richmond, Virginia area
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,910–$2,010
- Additional Notes: No local candidates within a 50-mile radius
Job Requirements
- Current RN license in the state of practice or compact licensure eligibility
- At least 1 year of Registered Nurse experience required
- 2 years of emergency room experience preferred
- Pediatric-specific experience not required, but pediatric emergency department exposure is a plus
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, and CPI or completion of an onsite de-escalation module
- Must pass EKG exam at orientation
- Ability to provide care for pediatric patients ages 0–20
- Strong communication, critical thinking, and calm decision-making skills in high-pressure situations
Responsibilities
- Deliver coordinated, patient-centered emergency nursing care in a busy pediatric ED
- Perform initial and ongoing assessments, triage, and care planning for acutely ill or injured patients
- Administer medications safely and monitor patient responses to treatment
- Support rapid response situations and assist with charge nurse coverage as needed
- Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapy, and the interdisciplinary care team to support positive outcomes
- Use critical thinking to prioritize care for patients with urgent and life-threatening conditions
- Maintain accurate documentation in Epic and other clinical systems
- Promote patient safety, infection control, and a compassionate family-centered care experience
